Collaboration is key to successful communication when using AAC. Barriers to successful AAC use typically include access, positioning, sensory integration, family/school support, and overall participation in multiple environments. These factors are often considered simultaneously and by multiple disciplines during the evaluation for an SGD (speech generating device). Once the SGD arrives SLPs and OTs have unique challenges that are best met in a multidisciplinary treatment model. This webinar describes how to structure AAC therapy using the ICF framework and multidisciplinary treatment.
